Monday, 30th March, 2020
 Dear Parents/Guardians/Pupils,
I hope you are all keeping well and trying to keep busy during this time. I am issuing some further activities for this week. Second Class, I will upload some prayers for you to begin to learn off by heart for your First Holy Communion. As everything is uncertain at the minute, we will communicate with you if there is any news on the Communion but for now, we are going to keep going in the hope that all will be well in the coming weeks.

Maths:

• Work it Out P 52+53- children do one every day. Friday Test on P78.
• Maths photocopies- one page per day-continue with the booklet.
• Tables- We are going to revise the tables again beginning at +1.
• www.topmarks.co.uk has some online games. Type Maths into the search bar and age level is KS1.

English

• Spellings of the week are in their homework copies. Children put each word into a sentence.
• Better English- P46, 47, 48
• Reading- please complete 2 pages of their class readers every night. Please track this in their reading record book.
• Phonics- photocopies- 3 pages per week- come up with words containing the sound. Orally, put them into sentences. Write a list of words together. Complete page.
• Handwriting pages- three per week.
• Make some lunch or dinner together or do some baking. Talk about what equipment and ingredients you will need. Talk about the method-what will you do first, next, after that. In their homework copies, children can write down their recipe using the headings-ingredients, equipment and method.
• David Walliams is releasing an audio book a day. Listen to the story and children can draw and label their favourite character from the story. Discuss their favourite part of the story. Follow the link: bit.ly/AudioElevenses

 
Religion:

• Talk to the children about the events of Holy Week and Easter
•  We are following the programme Grow in Love 1st class. Grow in love has made its website and teaching resources available online for all parents and pupils during this time. Go to www.growinlove.ie and use the password: [email protected] and password: growinlove. Click the 1st Class book and go to theme 7- Holy Week and Easter. There are videos, colouring pages and other activities to complete.
• Complete P 42+43 in Grow in Love

 
SESE:

• Small World P52, 53, 54. Read the story of The Giant’s Causeway. Locate where the Giant’s Causeway is on the map and look at pictures of it online. Ask children can they name any other Irish Legend which they have learned or read about- Children of Lir, Oisín in Tír na nÓg, Gráinne Mí Mháille.
  

PE:

• The Body Coach is doing PE lessons online every day at 9am. A nice way to kick start the day.
