Today, Wednesday 30th March 2022, Carrick ND Ballinlough hosted our first ever 5-a-side soccer tournament. Carrick NS, Granlahan NS, Gortaganny NS and Loughlynn NS all took part. Carrick NS A Girls won’t the final against a very good Loughlynn NS team. Carrick NS A Boys won the final for the boys competition against Gortaganny NS. All children who participated received a drink and crisps from our school. The winners and runners up all received a medal. Thanks to Paul from Daybreak in Ballinlough for sponsoring some water drinks for the children too. As part of our whole school self evaluation process we are teaching and learning about the genre of writing called procedure or instructional writing.
This week we wrote a procedure piece on how to bake a chocolate cake. So…. We acted on our exceptional writing and baked a chocolate cake in school. Needless to say we enjoyed it too! We are talk part in the Incredible Edibles program. We are learning about potatoes and the famine. Vegetables and fruit and how they grow. The parts of plants and what parts we eat. Her is pictures of us planting our seed potatoes, lettuce from seed and some strawberries!! Our school stood out and cheered on the Hurling for Hope charity walk today 25th March 2022. We wore our school jerseys and held out our burley’s to support the walkers on their way to Roscommon.
We previously held a non uniform jersey day on the 16th March and raised €318 for the Hurling for Hope charity fundraiser. We wish them good luck on the rest of their journey to Roscommon in the coming days. Our pupils have been learning the rules of 25 since January. We then held a class tournament in a full round robin format so everyone got to play one another. Well done to Sarah and Dylan who made the final and Dylan who won the tournament out. |
